Altar Guild

  • Altar Guild members offer, on a weekly basis, the careful, loving preparation of the church and altar with candles, linens, vessels, and seasonal amenities.

  • Whenever there is worship in the church, or any church service, you can be sure that the altar guild has been there in advance preparing the space to welcome parishioners and newcomers alike so that all may “Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 96:9). We take our direction from the rector in all of the work that we do.

Holy Comforter’s Altar Guild is a member of the National Altar Guild Association, giving us the opportunity to be part of a wider Episcopalian group, including the Diocese of Colorado and the nation. It is a joy to work with this dedicated and talented group of people. You can hear laughter coming from the sacristy on any given Saturday morning as we perform our tasks.

There are no prerequisites for being a part of the altar guild at Holy Comforter. Men, women, and youth are welcome. Training is simple and conducted “on the job.” We are divided into teams, each serving one weekend per month, so the time commitment is minimal, or you can be as involved in special services and projects as you desire.
