The Youth Ministry program at Holy Comforter serves youth in grades 6 -12 by providing a variety of opportunities for them to gather for fellowship, grow in their faith, serve others, and participate in the larger faith community. Our hope is that through these experiences, our youth will be better able to love and serve God, their neighbors, and themselves.
Youth Group BIBLE STUDY
Sundays 9:30-10:45 am in the Undercroft
Our weekly meetings are designed to give the youth time to have fun together, build a safe and caring community, grow in their knowledge and practice of the Christian faith, examine current events in the context of that faith, and spend time together in worship and prayer. We look forward to these discussions and our time together, as they are just one part of our faith journey. One week each month we go on an "adventure" or participate in a service project, designed to encourage fellowship and service to our community. These meetings and outings are led by a team of dedicated adults and our awesome Youth Leader, Natalie Keller!
YOUTH GROUP gatherings
Our youth learn together, serve together, and play together. From Escape Rooms, to lock ins, to hanging out eating s’mores, community time is quality time for our youth. We try to keep costs to a minimum, and families are invited to host “hang outs” for those in either middle school, high school, or both. These activities usually take place once or twice a month on Sunday afternoons, but scheduling is flexible depending on when families and activities are available. Please contact Natalie Keller for a calendar of events.
Members of the Larger Congregation
Each of our youth is a valued member of Holy Comforter, and we strive to encourage and support all of their ministries with and amongst us. Some of the ways our youth participate in the larger congregation include: serving in worship as acolytes, lectors, sound board operators, musical offerings, outreach projects, fundraising for charitable organizations, volunteering at A Precious Child, and helping children and the elderly in our congregation and the community.
Our group attends two annual youth retreats through the Diocese of Colorado called Quest. Quest youth retreats help our young people grow deeper in their relationship with God. Quest incorporates general sessions led by entertaining and powerful speakers, interactive small group time, an engaging band, and plenty of community-building activities to help foster spiritual growth throughout the weekend and beyond. No two Quest events are the same. Youth are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and dive into each theme in hope that the weekend will help them grow individually in their faith and corporately as a member within the Church.
In 2019 our youth group is teaming up with YES (Young Episcopalians in Service) for a mission trip to the Vail Valley. The Vail/Eagle Valley congregation is proud and excited to welcome these middle and high school youth to learn about their community, it’s needs and gifts along with creation care of the surrounding areas. This experience will combine service and outreach with education and advocacy.
* For the safety of our youth, we do not publish all meeting and event information on our website. However, we warmly welcome all youth in grades 6-12, and encourage you to email us if you are interested in joining us. We will be happy to share all group meeting information with you at that time.
