junior counselor information and application

Each summer counselors from Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp join us at Holy Comforter for a week of
music, creative worship, crafts, tie-dye, games, Bible study, water fun, bike riding, outdoor activities, and
more; all designed to encourage children ages 3 years – 6th grade to grow in their Christian faith. This
year camp will be June 18-21nd.
Junior Counselor positions are for youth going into grades 7-12 who love God, working with kids, singing,
playing games, praying, and watching Veggie Tales. There is no cost for junior counselors to participate,
but they are required to fill out an application, attend the training and planning meeting before camp, and
be actively involved as leaders in all camp activities.
The mandatory training and planning meeting will be:
Sunday, June 17th from 5:00 – 8:30 pm for dinner, team building, camp prep & briefing with
RTLC Counselors
Every day of camp, Junior Counselors are required to attend the morning devotional and
briefing at 8:30 am, and the daily wrap-up until 3:30 pm.
On Thursday Junior Counselors should plan to stay at camp through the closing program and
BBQ, which begins at 5:30 pm. They should also plan to stay after to help clean up.
(Parents
and siblings are welcome to attend!) This is a really long day for the volunteers, but there will be snacks,
rest, and social time built into the after-camp hours.
Junior Counselors are expected to:
- Partner with their assigned RTLC counselor to supervise and lead their group in games, crafts, bible
study and special activities (Junior Counselors must be at least 3 years older than the group they’re
assigned to.)
- Join the RTLC counselors up front in leading worship, prayer and singing
- Plan and run the carnival with the other junior counselors on Wednesday afternoon
- Be a good role-model for campers, adhering to the rules and procedures for the week
- Help with set up and clean up
To apply, the attached form needs to be filled out by the applicant, and returned to Jamie Rumsey at Holy
Comforter by May 15th. A parent or legal guardian will need to download and complete the Health History form.
