wednesday faith formation

This Lenten season, Holy Comforter is offering several options for in-person, community faith formation on Wednesdays, beginning February 21.

  • Stations of the Cross & Eucharist with Mother Kim - 12-1pm, February 21-March 28
    • In lieu of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, the Church developed 14 prayer Stations as a way for Christians everywhere to reflect on the final hours before the crucifixion.
  • Praying the Rosary with Father Bill - 5-6pm, February 21-March 21
    • For centuries, the rosary has helped Christians keep a regular and daily practice of prayer. Each week in the Sanctuary Father Bill will lead the group in a Divine Mystery, finishing with Evening Prayer. The last week's prayer will be the Prayer for Peace. A Rosary will be provided for you, if you do not have one, already. Contact Father Bill to learn more.
  • Soup Suppers - 6-6:30pm, February 21-March 21
    • Holy Comforter will provide the soup. Feel free to bring bread or a salad as we break bread together between faith formation offerings in Maglaras Hall.
  • A Lenten Conversation on Racism - 6:30-8pm, February 21-March 21
    • Racial violence and fear of the other fill our news. How can we as Christians embrace our call to restore unity among diversity? Lent invites us into a season of self-examination and substantive conversation. Our hope is that through engaging in dialogue together, sharing stories about ourselves, our backgrounds, and our attitudes and opinions, participants will find their hearts and minds opened to human diversity of all kinds and concrete ways we can love our neighbors. Gather to learn about and face racism together, with Mother Kim, members of our leadership team and special guests. Contact Mother Kim to learn more.
      • February 21: Why Talking about the Sin of Racism Matters

Richard Niebuhr. Father Kelsey states, "Not since the 1960's can I recall a time when individual American Christians heard God's call to go forth into the world to proclaim the Gospel in such radically different ways...My hope is the group will wrestle with how people who self-proclaim their allegiance to Jesus Christ can possibly reconcile their faith to actions that some of us see as the antithesis of what we believe to be a faithful Christian life."
