Holy Comforter strives to provide a loving and nurturing community that engages children in a journey of Christian faith, encourages them to understand it, empowers them to learn to live it, and instills in them the confidence to carry the love of Christ to others.
OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN
nursery for infants and toddlers
Sundays from 8:15 am-12:15 pm and during some special services throughout the year
We love to hear the sound of children in worship, and we also recognize sometimes parents need a break. We offer professionally staffed nursery care for infants and toddlers, and invite you to stay with them until they feel comfortable. Our ushers will be happy to show you to our professionally staffed nursery. For more information, please contact our nursery supervisor, Cassidy Bonifas.
During Sunday services and during some special services throughout the year.
For 3-5 year olds, we have "God's Play Place" (Biblical story time and activities) during services in the undercroft, with professional nursery care staff. For more information, please contact Cassidy Bonifas.
kids in PRE-K & elementary school
Our Sunday School uses a Montessori-based curriculum Godly Play to introduce our children to Biblical stories. We create a safe and beautiful space where children are respected as they see, hear and wonder about stories from the Bible or other aspect of our Episcopal tradition. Using hands-on materials and “wondering questions” to reflect on the story together, children then choose from a variety of materials—art supplies, building materials, books, etc —to make their own creative responses, and to help make the stories truly their own.
Godly Play: Kids in Pre-K-2nd grade
God's Explorers: Kids in 3rd-5th grade
An usher or greeter would be happy to show you to the education space, and parents are always welcome to observe. Please contact Becky O’Rourke for more information.
Members of the Larger Congregation
Children are encouraged to participate in all aspects of our common life together. Fun and fellowship opportunities cross all generations, and annual events such as our Parish Retreat and “Trunk or Treat” give adults and children of all ages an opportunity to share time together. They volunteer alongside as we pack backpacks for A Precious Child, serve dinner to families through Growing Home, and host the Broomfield Farmers’ Market, and they are wonderful helpers during coffee hour, too.
Children are also invited to serve alongside adults in worship. They assist as ushers, greeters, altar guild members and acolytes.
Rainbow Trail Day Camp
All kids ages 3 - entering 6th grade are invited to Holy Comforter for a week of music, creative worship, crafts, tie-dye, games, Bible study, water fun, bike riding, outdoor activities, and more; all designed to encourage children to grow in their Christian faith. Adult counselors from Rainbow Trail Lutheran camp join us for the week to lead the fun!
All kids ages 4 - 6th grade are invited to join our music director, Mary McIntire, and her crew of music educators for a week of music fun, theory, instruments, and performance. Each year features a new theme, from Mary Poppins to Christmas in July. For more information please contact Mary.
