What is Mom Matters?

Mom Matters is a group for mothers with children of any age. It recognizes the value of every mom and seeks to support her no matter what her age, background, or circumstances may be. The name "Mom Matters" was chosen because it has two meanings that accurately represent the purpose for the group: to spread the message that each mom really does matter, and to focus on the things that really matter to moms. Along these lines, our meetings reflect the goals of the group: laugh and learn together- all in the context of our faith in God's grace and love. The group meets in the evening so that moms who work outside the home, as well as stay-at-home moms, are able to be a part of the group. Designed and led by moms, Mom Matters meetings help mothers find friendship and acceptance in a relaxing and supportive environment. At each meeting, moms receive new information and ideas that can be used to make them better, more confident mothers. They also have a chance to renew their spirit and strengthen their relationship with God. Holy Comforter is the gracious sponsor for our group, but the group is meant for moms across the Front Range.

What happens at the meetings?

Every meeting is a little different, but there is always plenty of fun, food, and fellowship! The meetings begin with dinner brought in from local restaurants followed by dessert and tea. This offers the perfect opportunity for everyone to socialize and connect with other moms in the group. The next part of the meeting features programming such as guest speakers, panel presentations, book studies, creative activities, service projects, and discussion groups. These elements cover a large range of topics that are helpful and relevant to moms, such as parenting strategies, womanhood, relationships, home matters, health and wellness, and many more. While each meeting is unique, all meetings support moms by providing them with new ideas, time to relax and reflect, and just have fun with other moms!

At the meetings, moms gather in table groups, where closer connections within the larger group can be made. Every table group also includes a mentor, a mom who has been down the road you are traveling right now. She is there to offer support, encouragement, hope and perspective.

The fun of Mom Matters extends beyond the meetings, as well. A Girls' Night Out activity is planned each month and is open to Mom Matters members, as well as non-members (moms or not!). These activities include movie nights, recipe swaps, service activities, project nights, and other informal and fun activities that offer yet another opportunity to develop friendships and connections with other women in the community.

How do I join Mom Matters?

To join Mom Matters at Holy Comforter, simply print and complete the registration form, attach your payment, and return them both to the church office. You can drop them off in person Tuesday -Friday between 9:00a.m. and 2:00p.m., or mail them to Mom Matters at Holy Comforter, P.O. Box 412, Broomfield, CO 80038.

Participants in our group are asked to contribute to the cost of food and programming by paying dues each semester (September-December and January-May). The cost is $50/semester, but this is reduced to $40/semester if payment is received prior to the first meeting. We do not want cost to be a barrier for moms to attend. Payment plans, as well as partial and full, scholarships are available. Please indicate your need for assistance on the registration form, and we will contact you. Your requests will be kept in strictest confidence.
