The 2007-2008 Theme: The Home Factor

What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and is an international program designed to nurture mothers with children from infancy through kindergarten.  MOPS is dedicated to the message that "mothering matters". Better moms raise better children, which makes the world a better place.  MOPS help mothers find friendship and acceptance, develop mothering skills, and promote spiritual growth.  The mothers who attend are of many ages and backgrounds, butshare the same desire - to be the best mothers they can be.
Visit the MOPS International website.

What is special about MOPS at Holy Comforter?
One of the goals of MOPS at Holy Comforter is to reach out to all mothers of preschoolers in our community.  For this reason, our group has chosen to meet in the evenings so the benefits of MOPS can be accessible to moms who work outside and inside the home.  Holy Comforter is our gracious host and sponser, but our group is by no means limited to church members!

What happens at the meetings?
At each meeting the moms gather at their assigned tables and enjoy the fellowship of other moms while they eat dinner brought in from a local restaurant.  Being at an assigned table for the year gives moms a chance to really get to know a group of moms from the group, thus building lasting friendships.  Each meeting is a little different, but every meeting has a speaker or presentation and time for follow-up discussion.  Our speakers and discussions address topics that are relevant in the lives of mothers such as parenting skills, womanhood, family relationships, home matters, and more.  We conclude our evening with a social activity - usually something to make and take home - which gives moms a chance to chat with moms from other tables while they work.  Examples of past activities include beading jewelry, stamping coasters, scrapbooking, painting pottery mugs, and much more!

Where can I get more information?
To learn more about MOPS at Holy Comforter, you can call the church office at (303)466-2667, or you can e-mail Jamie, one of the group's coordinators, at jbugrumsey@msn.com. But the best way to learn more about our group is to join us for one of our meetings!  There is no charge for your first visit, just let Jamie or the church office know you'll be joining us by the day before the meeting.

How do I join MOPS at Holy Comforter?
To join MOPS at Holy Comforter, simply print and complete the registration form, attach your payment, and return them both to the church office.  You can drop them off in person Tuesday - Friday between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, or you can mail them to MOPS at Holy Comforter PO Box 412 Broomfield, CO 80038.  (Participants in our group are asked to contribute to the cost of the program, including dinner, speaker fees, activity expenses, etc., by paying dues each semester.  We do not want this cost to be a barrier for moms to attend, so payment plans, as well as full and partial scholarships, are available.

The 2007-2008 MOPS International Theme: The Home Factor

"In our homes of origin many of us learned the deepest lessons about relationship, developed life routines and acquired our tastes and preferences.  And now, as moms, we long to create homes where our families can thrive and grow - and we can too.  Our homes must be safe places - physically and also emotionally safe.  In them we bond, we eat and play and rest together, we decorate and provision our special home spaces.  The theme the Home factor: BEGIN HERE . . . GO THERE enriches our perspective and hones our abilities to creat a cocoon of home.  But at its healthiest, our home experience should fill us and launch us into wider circles of investment and influence where we interact with our world.  We return HOME to reconnect and refuel - but we'll move from the HOME outwards to make a difference.  The heart of the HOME is also a picture of God's desire to interact with us and deeply love us where we really live.  He desires to make his home in our hearts.  He expresses it this way in the theme verse: " . . . he lives with you and will be in you." John 14:17" (Description taken from the MOPS International website)
