Ministries for our Children & Families

Holy Comforter is a family friendly place! Our children are an important part of our church family, and we are working hard to provide fun and meaningful ways for them to learn about their church and God's love for them. We also think it's important to support the parents of our children, and offer them opportunities for fellowship with other parents within the congregation.  Please come join us ~ visitors are always welcome!

Holy Comforter offers your family:

Nursery for infants and toddlers - Available Sundays from 9:15 - 10:30am

- We recommend the nursery for infants and toddlers under the age of three, but we recognize that each child is unique and has different needs.  Because we want church to be a positive experience for every child, we encourage parents to decide when their children are ready for Sunday School.
- We want each child to feel safe and comfortable in the nursery, so we invite parents to accompany their children in the nursery for the first few visits if it will help put them at ease.
- Parents are also welcome to take advantage of the two cry rooms at the back of the Sanctuary if they want to keep their children with them during the service. A changing station is also available in the women's restroom down the hall.

Sunday School for children in Pre-School through 5th grade - Starts at 9:30 AM

- The goal of our Sunday School program is to use traditional bible stories to teach children about the central messages of the bible, including God's love, Jesus's example for living, and how to live faithfully and joyfully as God's children.
- To keep all our children engaged in learning these lessons, we use a variety of activities including music, drama, storytelling, manipulatives, arts and crafts, games, movement and more.
- To teach children good stewardship and the joy of giving to others, we have a small "offering" in Sunday School. The money the kids bring in each week (usually a few quarters or a dollar bill) is being saved for a donation to the Heifer Project.  When enough money has been collected, the children will be able to choose how their offering will be used to provide animals to impoverished families.
- As in the nursery, we want each child to feel safe and comfortable in Sunday School, so we invite parents to accompany their children to Sunday School for the first time if it will help put them at ease.

MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers) - Meets First Thursdays at 6:30 PM

- Unlike traditional MOPS groups, MOPS at Holy Comforter meets in the evenings so mothers who work outside the home can also attend.
